Viridian RFX25 Gears Rating
4.5 out of 5 gears (Gears Ratings Explained)The Viridian RFX25 is a superb little optic for use on your pistol or rifle. I was thoroughly impressed with the diversity of this green (red dot sight).
Where To Buy the Viridian RFX25 1×20 Micro Green Dot
First Impressions of the Viridian RFX25 1×20 Micro Green Dot
The RFX25 is compatible with the majority of full-size and small handguns with optics. It has ten brightness levels and a quick on/off that appears to be activated by movement. It employs the docter mounting footprint. Initially, the optic was supposed to be attached directly to one of my pistols. Unfortunately, this did not work out. To use this optic on my Saiga 12, I purchased a docter to Picatinny rail conversion. When I first opened the package, I was astonished to discover a Picatinny rail adapter was already included with the Viridian RFX25.
A Docter/Noblex/RMR mounting standard-compliant pistol slide or a Picatinny rail adapter are both compatible with the Viridian RFX25. If the reflex sight is to be mounted directly to the slide, the two screws securing the optic to the adaptor can be removed. Every necessary wrench and tool was included in the set. The optic itself even included a dust cover and white text indicating the elevation and windage turrets. The optic’s edges are almost entirely smooth to prevent catching, and the delicate pattern work is exquisite.
Installation and Set-Up of the Viridian RFX25 1×20 Micro Green Dot
The optic is attached directly to the Picatinny rail of the Saiga 12 by means of a riser and a single Torx bolt. Little buttons on the front of the optic are used to increase and decrease the brightness. Once the eye release and height were adjusted to my eyes, I took the shotgun to test out some new buckshot and half a dozen new magazines that I purchased from Global Ordnance.

Field Test of the Viridian RFX25 1×20 Micro Green Dot
In order to test the performance and dependability of the high-quality ammo I also purchased from Global Ordinance, I took my shotgun out to the backfield on a sunny summer morning. When I first raised the shotgun to my eye, I observed that the green dot was readily observed over the grass in the background. The green dots became more noticeable after a few brightness button pushes, making it simple to identify no matter what color the background was. Regardless of what kind of target I had set up, I was able to safely and effortlessly follow the green dot throughout the terrain.
The Viridian RFX25 was lightning-quick and the effective acquisition of objects at great distances amazed me. As quickly as I could, I squeezed off round after round, hitting the targets, and every time the rounds found their target. The only thing stopping me from firing quicker shots would be the recoil from the 12-guage shotgun. Moreover, the sight was startlingly accurate straight out of the box.
I’ve now used a wide variety of reflex sights on a variety of handguns and shotguns. The Viridian RFX line of reflex sights are very well made. They are light, small, easy to place follow-up rounds, and rapid to acquire targets. Even though I was using a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun, I was still able to throw lead down range as rapidly as I could with a pistol
Pros of the Viridian RFX25 1×20 Micro Green Dot
It’s bright and clear, and the elevation and windage turrets on the upper and right sides of the optic are readily visible. The Viridian name and logo, printed in crisp white, shine out against the sight’s matte black surface.
Cons of the Viridian RFX25 1×20 Micro Green Dot
The Viridian RFX25 is a fantastic tiny optic. The buttons are not where I would have preferred them to be. The accompanying Picatinny rail adapter may perhaps be a little higher than you would want. Since the optic employs the docter footprint, it is not a flush mount, and with the adaptor plate attached, there is an extra 0.2 inches of rise. Some individuals might find this to be a little too much, especially for a little pistol like a handgun. It wasn’t a problem for me, given the circumstances, and it gave me the height I need to correctly line up the optic with my stock.
Final Thoughts on the Viridian RFX25 1×20 Micro Green Dot
The Viridian RFX25 is, in my opinion, is a far better optic for this shotgun in contrast to the outdated red dot sight it had previously. The Veridian RDS is lighter and simpler to operate. Instant on/off is a crucial feature for weapons used for self-defense. The Viridian’s footprint is effective, and the optic’s design was flawless and precise.
I have frequently encountered advertising, claiming that going green is preferable, that it is easier on the eyes, or that it is preferable for target acquisition. I had assumed that this was a marketing gimmick to promote a distinct, somewhat superior product. After experiencing it myself, I must admit that a green dot does work exceptionally. I’m unsure if it is superior to a red dot, but I can attest that the Viridian green dot shines out more against greenery than any red dot I have ever used.
